Star Wars Downunder was telecined and transferred to standard definition digi-beta. It was edited initially in Pinnacle Liquid Chrome. Once that software ceased to be, having been consumed by Avid, the project was remounted in Adobe Premiere. The film remained in standard definition for many years. As the finish line approached, the brash decision to re telecine the original film to HD was made. The repercussions of this decision were far reaching. Since the original timeline created in edition was long since lost, due to the demise of the computer it was originally edited on, there was no connection remaining to any timecode. Therefore the entire edit had to be rebuilt by match framing the new HD footage to an earlier export.
